THE NEW JERUSALEM PART ONE

The New Jerusalem   Part One

Hi good friends out there in internet land. I have reviewed the first eight chapters in the book of Revelation in a very detailed way giving the readers many cross references to each verse but due to time and the fact that I must move on to other writing projects in the Bible the remaining chapters (Revelation chapters 9-22) will be completely quoted with some comments at the end of the chapter. I really do desire to cross reference every verse in these chapters but this would take me way to long thus leaving out other vital biblical studies that are also needed and desired to people that are very hungry for the word of God. There will still be many interesting insights after the chapter is quoted so please enjoy the rest of the study in this fascinating last book of the Bible.

(1) "And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. (2) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. (3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. (4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. (6) And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. (7) He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. (8) But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. ( 9 ) And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife. (10) And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God. (11) Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. (12) And had a wall great and high, and had twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and names written theron, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the children of Israel. (13) On the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates. (14) And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and in them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. (15) And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and the gates thereof, and the wall thereof. (16) And the city lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. (17) And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel. (18 ) And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. (19) And the foundations of the wall of the city were garnished with all manner of precious stones. The first foundation was jasper; the second sapphire, the third a chalcedony; the fourth, an emerald. (20) The fifth, sardonyx; the sixth, sardonyx; the seventh, chrysolite; the eight, beryl; the ninth, a topaz; the tenth, a chrysoprasus; the eleventh, a jacinth; the twelfth, an amethyst. (21) And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.(22) And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. (23) And the city has no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it; for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. (24) And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light if it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. (25) And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. (26) And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. (27) And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." Revelation 21: 1 - 27.

More Christians should be heavenly minded so they can be of earthly good for the kingdom of God. If there is one thing that everybody who read this verse by verse commentary or something similar is everyone in heaven is heavenly minded with a spirit of worship and service to God. This chapter goes past the one thousand year rule and reign of Jesus Christ and shows us the New Jerusalem. This final book of the Bible talks about the rapture, the seven year tribulation period, rewards, the judgments of God, the Millennium, the hardness of sinners hearts, the perseverance of the believers in Christ and eternal judgment. After the Great White throne judgment what next?

THE NEW JERUSALEM PART TWO

The New Jerusalem   Part Two

This part of eternity begins with God destroying the old earth and re creating a new heaven which includes earth and the entire universe. There is a beautiful City of God that seems to get center attention. Revelation twenty one refers to this as the New Jerusalem. Revelation chapter twenty two also goes into this wonderful reality.

The new heaven and earth is only made possible by the complete degeneration of the old one. "But the heavens and earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." 2 Peter 3:7. Apparently a ball of fire is stored within the earth and this is how the New Jerusalem will come into existence. "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." 2 Peter 3:10.

The earth will be restored much like the Garden of Eden. At this point God will supply all the natural resources. God Himself will be the source of light, heat, water and anything else He desires His children to enjoy. It seems we as believers in Christ will probably have free access to this city but I do not believe we will reside in this place. This will be the capital by which Jesus Christ will rule. This will be a beautiful city and the center of the universe. In verse two the apostle John saw the Holy City coming down out of heaven from God. Some people have even suggested that this Holy City will be suspended above the earth during the one thousand year reign so the immortal believers can live there but this is conjecture. The only reality is after the Great White Throne judgment the New Jerusalem will be established. "But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: For He hath prepared for them a city." Hebrews 11:16.

The foundation stones of the New Jerusalem have the twelve apostles' names on them but the twelve gates are named for the twelve tribes of Israel. These twenty four spiritual leaders represent two main groups who will actually inhabit this city.

There is a third group called the nations translated people and this entity is probably not in the category of the Old Testament or the Church in the New Testament. Examples of these people would be Noah because he was not an Israelite or the tribulation believers. I am not dogmatic on what I just said but this is not an easy subject.

The most important part of this point in eternity is God Himself will be there in Person and we will see Him face to Face. "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12. Almost every Christian I know focuses on the part that now we see through a glass darkly but I never here the, "face to face" portion of the verse. This is the New Jerusalem. We will all have our glorified bodies at this point so the face to face future reality will be the norm. All tears and sorrow will be removed because at this point there is no purpose for theses emotions.

The New Jerusalem will be 1500 miles in every direction. The streets will be pure gold and also the construction of the buildings. We will probably be able to see through this heavenly beauty. No one has anything to hid and we will have a longing to see Jesus Christ as much as we can. Obviously this is a higher level of living than our present circumstances.

The New Jerusalem has twelve gates made of pearl because this substance is what represents God the most in His presence. A pearl is a peace of sand in an oyster but it is wrapped in layer after layer to make it beautiful. We were an unfit vessel for God but because we were wrapped in the righteous cloak of Jesus Christ this made us beautiful in the sight of God. The temple is missing because Jesus Christ is now the temple along with God the Father. They will illumine the whole universe. In chapter twenty one God the Father and Jesus Christ are mentioned but in Revelation 22:1 a pure river of water of life is spoken of which is the Holy Spirit. We will clearly have a heart to heart relationship with God. Christians have one now but it is hindered because of the world and sin.

If you do not know God then now may be a good time to accept Jesus Christ into your heart as personal Savior and Lord by repenting of all your sins and inviting the Son of God into your life. Christians are destined for unhindered fellowship with God for all eternity. I do not see how anyone can refuse this offer of being one with their Creator forever and ever.

God bless you,

Bob D.

EVEN SO LORD JESUS COME PART ONE.

Even so come Lord Jesus    Part One

(1) "And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the Lamb. (2) In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations (3) And there shall ne no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him. (4) And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. (5) And there shall be no night there; neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall regain for ever and ever. (6) And he said unto me, These sayings are faithful and true: and the Lord God of the holy prophets sent his angel to shew unto his servants the things which must shortly be done. (7) Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. (8) And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before his feet of the angel which shewed me these things. (9) Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God. (10) And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand. (11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy let him be holy still. (12) And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (13) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (14) Blessed are they that do His commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (15) For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches, I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. (18) For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. (19) And if any man shall take away from the words of this book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (20) He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus. (21) The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. A-men." Revelation 22: 1 - 21.

There will be a pure river of water of life coming down the middle of the street in the New Jerusalem. There will be trees and a different kind of fruit every month. The source of this river will come from the throne of God and the Lamb who sat on the throne. If everything is new in this city then this will be refreshing for the glory of God. "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour My Spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring: Isaiah 44:3. This river will not only be refreshing but it will renew the spirits of the redeemed for all eternity. (37) "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Je'sus stood and cried, saying, If any man thurst, let him come unto Me and drink. (38) He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (39) (But this spake He of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive: For the Ho'ly Ghost was not yet given: because that Je'sus was not yet glorified.)" John 7: 37 - 39. The Third Person in the Triune Godhead who is the Holy Spirit will still be very active in the lives of the redeemed throughout the annals of eternity.

God bless you,      Bob D.

EVEN SO COME LORD JESUS PART TWO

Even so come Lord Jesus    Part Two

If we are filled with the Holy Spirit as we live today (you have to be a believer in Christ to do this) we produce the fruit of the Spirit. There has to be a connection when the Bible says a new "Fruit" will produce every month. The leaves from the tree of life draw strength from the river. The Tree of Life first appeared in the Garden of Eden and here we read about it again in the New Jerusalem. When Adam eaten of the Tree of Life they could not go near the Tree of Life because God did not want a sin fallen nature eating from this Tree because they would live forever in their fallen sin natures.

Verse five says we will reign with Jesus Christ forever and ever. We will not just be servants which will be our delight but someone or something will need governing. The apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 6:3 that we will rule over angels. Jesus said in the parable of the talents in Luke nineteen that if we are faithful over ten things we will rule over ten cities. If we know what Revelation twenty two says about our future we will aquire more patience and strength to bear the burdens of this life. We can look at the troubles around us but in light of the richest blessing that will be ours forever and ever. There should be an urgency of getting the prophetic message out because time is running out as we know it because very soon the whole world will face this prophetic scenario starting with the rapture of the church.

Many people have avoided reading the book of Revelation because they thought it was to hard. I was only going to do a commentary on a few chapters but as time progressed this did not make any sense to me. In Revelation chapter one we are promised a special blessing if we read this book. The more open we are to the truth the greater the blessing. The apostle John did not seek this book out, God gave this to him. Notice the apostle John was commanded not to keep to himself the words of this prophecy. The purpose is to bring lost people to repentance and Christians to praising God.

Verse eleven is interesting because if a person reads this prophetic message and rejects the warnings, decides to stay unjust he or she will die separated from God for all eternity. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27: There is no second chance so before you turn down this saving message of Jesus Christ think extremely hard at the consequences. Once the rapture takes place events will move very fast. 2 Timothy 4:8 promises a special crown to all those who love His appearing. In the first book of the Bible (Genesis) we see Jesus Christ as the Alpha (the beginning) but in the last book of the Bible (Revelation) we see Jesus Christ as the Omega. Jesus Christ will be the victor over Satan.

There is a warning to not add or take away from this book. While there are different opinions on verses in the book of Revelation God is saying do not take away the message of the work of Jesus Christ as Savior, Lord and Judge.

In verse twenty the Bible says even so come Lord Jesus. There is an urgency so if I were to turn the theme around people need to "Come" to know the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord by repenting of all their sins and inviting the Son of God into their life. I do not know when Jesus Christ is coming but this event will not be held off to much longer because the world has become exceedingly evil. The prophetic signs do match the prophetic word. Pick up the newspaper or watch the news. I hope you just made that all important decision because time is running very short. The prophetic clock is almost at the midnight hour.

God bless you,
